Dr. Shane O’Sullivan is a senior lecturer in community development within the Department of Applied Social Sciences at Technological University of the Shannon. Previously, Shane was an assistant lecturer within the Department of Geography, Mary Immaculate College; and a part-time lecturer within the Department of Applied Arts, Waterford Institute of Technology.
Shane is currently co-ordinating or participating in numerous ERASMUS+ and Horizon Europe projects within the fields of rural development and social entrepreneurship. Currently, Shane is the Chairperson of Changing Ireland, Ireland’s national community development magazine. Shane holds a BA in Liberal Arts (Geography and History) from Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick; a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from University College Cork; and a PhD in Geography from Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick.
Research Interests: Rural and regional development; rural resilience; community development; social enterprise; social farming; migration.
