Dr. Adrian Grant is a historian and Lecturer in Policy at Ulster University. He is currently leading an interdisciplinary research project exploring the history of urban change in Derry and the associated impacts on people and neighbourhoods. This work, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) also seeks to utilise history and heritage research data for community planning and urban design consultation. Adrian has in the past worked on various research projects including an exploration of historic security influenced planning in Belfast and its impact in the present. He works closely with local and regional government in his research. Adrian is the author of the books Irish Socialist Republicanism, 1909-36 (2012) and Derry: The Irish Revolution, 1912-23 (2018) and numerous articles on history, politics and policy.
Research interests: History of urban change, heritage, nationalism, and community planning.
